update on my friend troy...

my friend troy pardue....jumped into a pool last sunday 8/30/09...to splash his wife...no one saw exactly what happened...she turned around and he was floating face down in the water...on the deep end....after she got to him...she turned him over...(luckily she is a neuro or nurse) he was talking and couldnt not move his arms or legs...he was intubated and put on a vent to keep him still...he had surgery to place rods and screws in his cervical spine...the halo has been removed...his injury is at C-7...so ...he has gross motor movement and no other movement below the arm pits...fine motor movement with the fingers may be lost....not sure with rehab...he will be sent to shepards in atlanta tomorrow...for 3 weeks and no family...this is when the family has to get the house ready for him to come home...its going to be a long road ahead...there are lots of friends to help...they have set up an account for them at regions bank...in our community everyone seems to jump in and help...or course i will be there as much as possible...being a nurse too....i just keep thinking with all the research with stem cells...that maybe he will have some progress...all we can do now is pray...{{thanks for asking}}

used my cricut for this one....got the idea from leigh's blog...i used my story book cartridge (i use this one way too much ;-) ) i cut the scalloped oval at 3 inches but with mine i added white card stock on the inside to make it stronger...its alot of paper....i used a scrap of brown and rolled it up for the stalk, i used the cricut for the leaves....and i just cut some strips for the curly q.......the paper is very old and i am glad i found a way to use it...

i'm back with a few easy cards...

i saw something similar to these on chicnscratch's blog...she made boxes and i made cards....also monica made the mummy with the ribbon! i just love these...they were super easy and alot of fun...easy class for kids to do...

taking a break...

a friend of ours had a really bad swimming pool accident....he is in the hospital on the vent with a broken neck...please say all the prayers you can for him...he needs a miracle

i wanted to add some better pictures here....so that you can see the recessed window...arent these cute...they are really easy to make...this is old stampin up paper and i still love it...i hate to even use it....just want to keep it

flower soft

so...what do you think about this soft soft stuff? its neat...i bought covered flower wire and (then colored it in soft suede) then put the glue on it...dipped in flower soft and let dry...i would love a bunch of these colors...the watering can is cut with the cricut stretch your imagination and layered about 3 times. i used my scor pal to make the scor lines on the cream card stock...

that stamp is so old...i couldnt tell you who makes it...but its perfect for this card! the label was also cut with the cricut storybook cartridge ( my fav) . i used some twine to tie around the flowers...
